Design and Study of a Wide-Band Printed Circuit Board Near-Field Probe

Magnetic near-field probes (NFP) represent a suitable tool to measure the magnetic field level from small electromagnetic interference (EMI) source. This kind of antenna is useful as probe for pre-compliance EMC measurements or debugging tasks since user can scan printed circuit board (PCB) looking locations with strong fields. When H-field point found, designer should check PCB layout and components placement in that area detect if this could result an EMI contribution focuses on analyzing performance easy build low-cost NFP designed manufactured using standard stack-up. Thereby, frequency range sensitivity NFP-PCB are analyzed through Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation model makes it possible evaluate its sensibility effective range. The numerical results obtained FEM models validated against verify design our NFP. reproduces experimental procedure, which used terms by means simulated distribution. has almost flat response 180 MHz 6 GHz, perfect concordance between S21 results. show average transmission loss −27.9 dB considering bandwidth, whereas one −29.7 dB. Finally, compared two high-quality commercial order analyze performance.
